The Role – Graduate Music Therapy Assistant
• Full-time, long-term role starting immediately
• Support students aged 5–19 through structured music and sensory-based activities
• Use instruments, rhythm, and sound to help pupils develop communication, confidence, and self-expression
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to support emotional regulation, engagement, and social interaction
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to create a nurturing, inclusive learning environment
• Gain first-hand experience of therapeutic education in action
Person Specification
• Degree in Music, Psychology, Performing Arts, or a related field (essential)
• Musical ability on one or more instruments (desirable)
• Passion for working with children with SEN, autism, or communication needs
• Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic, with a creative approach to learning and engagement
• A genuine interest in pursuing a career in therapy, SEN education, or child development
