SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Bordesley Green, Birmingham, B9
Pay Rate: £105 - £115 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term with the potential to become permanent
Start Date: ASAP

Long Term Futures are working with a welcoming primary school in Bordesley Green (B9) who are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist Resource Base. This provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), non-verbal communication needs (NV), and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

The role will involve providing 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils to access learning, build independence, and regulate their emotions. This is a long-term placement with the opportunity for the right candidate to secure a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support for pupils with ASD, NV and SEMH needs
- Use communication strategies such as PECs, Makaton, and visual timetables
- Work alongside teachers and the SENCo to deliver individual learning plans
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional well-being
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN, ideally in a school setting
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting ASD, non-verbal needs, and SEMH
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
- Ability to work as part of a team with teachers, parents, and external professionals
- Relevant TA qualification or strong SEN experience (desirable)
