About the Company:
A well known fashion business in Derby is entering an exciting period of growth and expansion. To support this, they are creating a brand-new in-house HR function. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of both HR and Health and Safety within the business.

The Role:
As the HR and HandS Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for all HR matters, while also overseeing workplace HandS. You’ll work closely with managers and employees across the business, providing expert guidance, ensuring compliance, and driving best practice in both HR and HandS. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has worked in a standalone HR role, or who is ready to step up into one.

Key Responsibilities:
* Human Resources *
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, contracts, performance reviews, training, and leavers.
- Advise on employee relations issues such as disciplinaries, grievances, and absence management in line with employment law.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee records.
- Support with organisational development, engagement, and retention initiatives.

* Health and Safety *
- Take responsibility for HandS across the business, including office and warehouse environments.
- Write, review, and implement HandS policies and risk assessments.
- Conduct workplace inspections and monitor compliance.
- Deliver HandS training/inductions and promote a positive safety culture.
- Ensure incidents and accidents are reported, investigated, and actions followed up.
- Liaise with external bodies and regulators where required.

- Previous HR experience, ideally in a standalone position within an SME.
- CIPD Level 3 qualified (essential), Level 5 or working towards (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience managing disciplinary, grievance, and performance processes.
- Experience in HandS responsibilities, ideally in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Ability to write policies, carry out risk assessments, and monitor HandS compliance.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Full-time permanent position

Monday to Thursday – 08.00 to 16.30 Fridays – 08.00 to 16.00

£26,000 - £28,000 per year + 28 days holiday
