Pinnacle Group are looking for an experienced Head of Operational Finance to lead our Client Accounting and Income Collection Teams, ensuring the delivery of an efficient high-quality and valued service to our clients and end customers. With strong attention to detail and excellent people management skills, you will support our best-in-class ambition by developing robust processes, building a high-performing team and promoting a customer-centric approach. This is a key role within the business, acting as a central point of contact for operational colleagues and internal stakeholders. You will also represent the finance function externally, meeting clients to present reports, review performance and support new business opportunities.

Our Homes business is a leading provider of housing & property management services across all tenures. A community-focused business, our client base spans central and local government, as well as the development and institutional investment sectors. Alongside over 80,000 homes in management we have two for profit registered provider registrations and a market-leading council partnership acquiring, refurbishing, managing and maintaining a portfolio of 500 properties. In the last three years, in addition to acquiring a residential lettings business, we have secured a major Ministry of Defence contract providing services across a portfolio of 49,000 military homes, as well as a growing client base within the Build to Rent and development sectors.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with leadership experience in finance roles within housing, property or public sector environments. They will bring expertise in housing finance, income collection and arrears management alongside commercial acumen and operational insight. Confident in engaging senior stakeholders, they will have a proven ability to drive performance, lead strategic improvements and present financial information clearly. Organised, analytical and adaptable, they will manage competing priorities, influence outcomes and foster a culture of accountability while delivering customer-focused financial services.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Working with the Head of Client Accounting and Head of Income, provide day-to-day and strategic leadership to the client accounting and income collection teams.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and customer service.
  • Build and develop a “best in class” team to ensure client reporting is up to standard and KPIs are met

Performance & Income Management

  • Working with the Head of Income, drive improvements in income collection and arrears performance across all portfolios.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for internal and external stakeholders and clients.
  • Working with the Head of Client Accounting, ensure client accounts are prepared in line with client deadlines to meet KPIs, as well as statutory deadlines

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Alongside the Client Accounting Business Partner, act as a primary finance contact for internal departments and external clients regarding contract performance and reporting on all accounting and income related issues.
  • Present financial performance updates and arrears trends to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure financial alignment with service delivery.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant housing regulations, financial governance standards, and internal controls.
  • Keep abreast of changes in housing legislation and accounting policies.
  • Lead on internal and external audits related to client accounts and income collection.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process and systems improvements with the support of the Homes systems and performance team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting in both client accounting and income collection.
  • Champion the use of financial systems and data analytics to support team performance.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Strong understanding of housing finance, income collection, and arrears management.
  • Proven leadership experience in a finance role within the housing, property or public sectors, ideally with knowledge of social housing governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of housing regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience in preparing, analysing, and implementing accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to business partner and communicate with non-finance stakeholders effectively and articulately.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, manage conflict and recognise when situations require escalation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
