We are looking for a self-motivated, well organised and methodical Operations Manager to join this dynamic team at the forefront of research into the treatment of paediatric malignancies. Primarily this role is required to support the transition work involved in the children’s service move from The Royal Marsden to the Evelina at Guy’s and St. Thomas’s. The post holder will be required to assist in supplying information needed for the move of the Paediatric Oncology Portfolio in line with governance and legal requirements. Included but not limited for this will include the study documentation, clinical and study specific data, tissue collection and storage details and supporting transfer of research agreements and support details of the paediatric trail budget to help ensure effective financial planning.
The post holder will support and manage the wider operational team and wider team in this service move. The successful applicant should have a flexible approach to their duties and the ability to work both as part of the team as well as independently. In addition you will have excellent communication, administrative and IT skills and be supportive and open to new initiatives.
• Take responsibility for ensuring all clinical trials within the clinical research unit are set-up, conducted and managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, all relevant Standard Operating Procedures, and relevant legislation / governance.
• Manage and lead the administrative / operational team of the clinical research unit.
• Manage and oversee the finances and budget of the clinical research unit, ensuring a balanced portfolio that enables sufficient income generation for the sustainability and development of the team.
• Co-develop and be responsible for the operational delivery of the strategy of the clinical research unit, in conjunction with the consultants / researchers and Lead Research Nurse.
• Lead on business development in the research unit, to develop a sustainable portfolio of commercial and non-commercial research in addition RM-Sponsored trials.
• Be a key member of the clinical research unit team responsible for coordinating with the clinical and medical members of the team, providing information as required regarding the portfolio and updates.

• Co-develop and be responsible for the operational delivery of the research unit strategy alongside the consultants / researchers.
• Manage, collate, maintain and monitor existing research, publications and audit activities and outputs of the research unit.
• Seek out and support research opportunities in a bid to increase the numbers of new trials undertaken within the unit and in collaboration with other units and external organisations.
• Provide overall financial management including UK-wide validations as required of the research unit budget, and effective management of individual clinical trial budgets, including financial reporting as required.
• Act as an authorising signatory for the research budget within limits agreed.
• Manage finances and developing systems in compliance with the relevant standing financial instructions.
