What skills and experience we're looking for

Garfield Primary School is looking for a Teaching Assistant & Playleader to join our happy and hardworking Early Years Team. The role will initially be a fixed term contract until 31/7/26 with the potential to become permanent.

The role will be primarily based in our Nursery, working with individuals or small groups of children as well as lunchtime supervision. You should be creative and caring with a commitment to quality educational provision and the ability to work in partnership with the class teacher. You should have high expectations for all children, motivating and engaging them in the learning process and be prepared to make a valuable contribution to our school with a desire to be involved in all aspects of school life.

A full and relevant Early Years Qualification & a good standard of English & Maths are essential along with enthusiasm and excellent communication skills. There will be plenty of opportunity for professional development and the chance to build a wide range of skills around support for children’s learning and their all-round development. The Teaching Assistant/Playleader may be required to provide personal care, which can include supporting them with toileting, feeding, and hygiene, as well as providing comfort when they are upset or unwell. Candidates should have/ be willing to complete, a Paediatric first aid certificate
