You must have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated;enjoy interacting with people and being part of a busy fast paced ward, which works in partnership with the Adult Day Surgery Unit. You will be a registered nurse, newly qualified willing to learn new skills or experienced with knowledge of caring for orthopaedic patients. You will be working closely with and be well supported by experienced ward manager/junior sisters/charge nurse, senior staff nurses, friendly clinical nurse specialists, therapists and world class orthopaedic surgeons. This post is an ideal opportunity to develop orthopaedic knowledge and clinical skills. As an individual and as part of a team you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to new developments within the service through research. As a dedicated nurse who puts patients first, and takes pride in providing high quality care, we have secured a fantastic opportunity for Nurses interested in research to work one day per week with our research team. his will facilitate further opportunities and involvement to gain knowledge in all aspects of research for improved patients’ outcomes.

As an individual and as part of a team you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to new developments within the service through research.



This post requires Staff rotation between: The Coleman Unit (TCU) and Day Surgery Unit (DSU)

Staff required to undertake long days/night shifts and Weekends.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and passionate nurse with an interest in providing exceptional care to patients on our patients.

Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures.

Maintain a high standard of safe clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.

Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.

Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient.

Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct

Ensure the safe custody and safe administration of medicines and report any discrepancies.

Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

To carry out all relevant forms of care competently without direct supervision.

Communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and promote effective team working.

To participate in the teaching, supervision and preceptorship/mentorship of learners and other staff. In the absence of a more senior nurse take charge of the ward.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Ward / Department Sister to ensure that the standards of nursing care are met at all times. This includes assisting the ward / department Sister and the whole team to meet the agreed standards of hospital cleanliness within the work environment.

Participate in the collection and completion of SAFE Care Data, checking of daily staffing and the week ahead on the e-roster for safer staffing and the safety of the patients.
