You will become part of an innovative and collaborative Service that plays a key role in advancing the Council's digital transformation initiatives. Whether your responsibilities involve supporting essential cloud security systems, overseeing our M365 services, or managing security and access controls, your contributions will be integral to enhancing the quality of service provided to our communities.
Main Purpose of Role
Security & Access – Identity, Access & Platforms
- Support identity and access platforms including Microsoft 365, Security Service Edge, and domain services, ensuring secure and reliable access across environments.
- Implement and maintain access controls for cloud and on-premises systems, enforcing consistent security policies across SaaS, IaaS, and hybrid setups.
- Manage identity lifecycle processes such as provisioning, deprovisioning, and role-based access, while maintaining compliance with internal policies.
- Assist with infrastructure changes and incident recovery, ensuring minimal disruption and supporting containment and recovery during security incidents.
- Maintain accurate configuration and asset data to support IT Asset Management, lifecycle planning, and risk mitigation.
- Contribute to governance activities, including monitoring access rights, managing web traffic policies, and participating in Information Governance and Security initiatives.

Additional Information
- You’ll be based at Carpenter House, Perth, with an option to work from home depending on service requirement
Skills & Experience Required
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for engineers who:
- Qualified or experienced: Hold an HND or higher in a relevant field or demonstrate substantial hands-on IT experience.
- Security-aware: Understand security frameworks and compliance standards and apply them effectively.
- Strong communicator: Able to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Organised and self-motivated: Manage multiple priorities, plan effectively, and deliver structured outcomes.
- Collaborative and professional: Work well in multidisciplinary teams, engaging stakeholders with professionalism and confidence.
- Technically curious: Embrace challenges and support innovation across the organisation.
Additional, desirable skills include:
- Scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell, Graph API)
- Experience working in a public sector or regulated environment
- Familiarity with multi-tenant Microsoft 365 environments
- Knowledge of cloud security solutions such as Palo Alto Prisma Access
Applicants should also demonstrate an ability to contribute to and enforce Operational Standards and Cyber Security Governance.
