Location: Birmingham
Salary: Dependent on experience.
Contract Type: Monday to Friday; hours vary daily between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, differentiated support across Key Stages 3-5, leading targeted interventions, covering lessons in the absence of teachers, and collaborating on curriculum planning. You will empower students to achieve their best, foster independence, and contribute to whole-school improvement.

Key responsibilities

* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated small-group and whole-class sessions
* Cover short-term teacher absences, following schemes of work
* Lead intervention programmes to close learning gaps and boost progress
* Prepare resources, adapt materials, and support lesson planning
* Assess, record, and report on student achievement and behaviour
* Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to implement strategies
* Maintain a positive, inclusive environment that promotes high expectations

Requirements

* HLTA accreditation or equivalent Level 4 qualification
* Proven experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or similar role
* Strong knowledge of the secondary curriculum across multiple subjects
* Excellent behaviour-management skills and classroom presence
* Ability to plan, adapt, and deliver lessons in line with teacher objectives
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; enhanced DBS check required
