Full-Time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Primary School, North Birmingham


Contract Type: Long-Term, Full-Time

Location: North Birmingham


Hays Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in North Birmingham to recruit a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HLTA to contribute to a vibrant school community, bringing creativity, initiative, and a passion for supporting children's learning.


Please note: Sponsorship and visa support are not available for this role. Applicants must have recent UK-based school experience and hold relevant HLTA qualifications.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Provide classroom support across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2
  • Lead targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Support pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)
  • Assist with phonics, literacy, numeracy, and guided reading
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support learning outcomes
  • Contribute to behaviour management and pupil well-being


Candidate Requirements:

  • HLTA status or equivalent Level 4/5 qualification
  • Recent experience in UK primary school settings
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum across the primary school key stages
  • Confident in delivering lessons independently
  • Adaptable, proactive, and passionate about working with children
  • Experience across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 is preferred
  • Willingness to support pupils with additional needs and personal care if required
