Finance Officer - Temporary

Based at Ashington



Salary: £25,947.00 per annum

Hours: Full time 37 per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Fixed term, Temporary – 6 months

Closing Date: 12-Noon 8th October 2025.


We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Finance Officer to support the smooth running of our accounts payable processes. The role will involve handling day-to-day tasks, working closely with colleagues to ensure financial records are accurate and compliant with policies and procedures.



About the Finance Officer Role

This role will involve:

Interacting with suppliers, customers and internal departments regarding financial matters
Processing supplier invoices, reconciling statements and responding to queries.
Managing mailbox traffic – prioritising and organising the flow of emails, ensuring urgent and important communications are addressed promptly.
Supporting weekly and month-end processes and maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
Building strong working relationships to support the delivery of timely financial services.


Your Experience

Successful candidates will need:

Essential:

Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role
Confident working with numbers with an ability to spot errors
Well organised, able to manage deadlines and handle multiple responsibilities
Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Teams.
Basic accounting knowledge – understanding invoices, debits, credits, reconciliations, resolving account discrepancies etc.
Desirable:

Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
Working knowledge of one or more of SunSystems / Onbase / QL financial management systems
Ability to suggest or implement process improvements.
