A Vacancy at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.


This post is primarily intended for resident doctors in Thoracic Surgery who have completed Core Training (or equivalent) and are either working towards a UK national training grade post in Thoracic or towards a CESR/FRCS application. The post does not carry SAC or college approval for training but we are a recognised training centre with an active commitment to train all resident grade doctors. It isessentialthat the candidate has passed the intercollegiate MRCS, or is able to demonstrate equivalent competencies, and has a minimum of cardiothoracic experience of 12 months as an SHO/Core trainee grade

Emergency (non-elective)

The successful candidate will be part of a 1 in 6 registrar on call rota. The successful candidate will be expected to act as a competent member of the on call team. This includes professional communication with colleagues and the team and organisation/provision of initial patient care.



Elective

The successful candidate will principally work one on one with a consultant but may be required to cover other duties to ensure all elective and emergency service provision by the department. Successful candidates will attend clinics, theatre sessions and ward rounds as per allocation in a weekly timetable within City campus site

The successful candidate will be required to know the patients that are under the care of the thoracic team and help with the running of the Department.
