I am seeking a female personal assistant to help my daughter live more independently and enjoy the activities she loves most.
About her:
She is a fun-loving woman who enjoys singing, arts and crafts, swimming, horse riding, and generally having a good time. She attends Garvald during the week and would love someone to support her both at home and out in the community. There may be occasional times when you would accompany her to Garvald, but this can be discussed at the interview.
She uses a wheelchair and a Zimmer frame. She does not require support with personal care, but you would assist her in getting to the toilet if needed.
The role:
Weekday evenings: 2–3 hours, 2–3 times per week (after she returns from Garvald)
Saturdays or Sundays: 4–5 hours, usually for outings or community activities
What you’ll be doing:
Accompanying her on walks, coffee trips, or day outings (especially at weekends)
Supporting her with activities she enjoys, such as:
Shopping for ingredients and cooking together
Arts, crafts, and board games
Swimming or horse-riding sessions
Encouraging her independence while keeping activities fun and engaging
About you:
Female, reliable, and enthusiastic about supporting independent living
Creative, with the ability to suggest and join in fun activities
Friendly, patient, and supportive in helping her enjoy life to the fullest
Willing to work closely with me to create more opportunities for her to get out and about
It is essential that the postholder be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or be willing to join.
*Genuine Occupational Requirement
How to apply:
Please email your interest to pajobs@lothiancil.org.uk with a brief description of why you are interested in this position and what experience you could bring to my daughter’s life. You are welcome to attach a CV as well.
I will respond to applications as soon as I can.
Thank you.
