I am looking for a friendly and caring female personal assistant to support my 14-year-old daughter after school. She attends a local special needs secondary school.
Shifts:
Wednesday to Friday: after school hours
Additional support during Easter and Summer holidays
About us:
My daughter has a learning disability, autism, sensory issues, anxiety, and scoliosis. Her sensory needs are supported in different ways, such as using ear defenders outdoors, choosing clothes she feels comfortable in, or wearing dark glasses. She is verbal but often answers questions in a way she thinks others want to hear, rather than expressing her true needs. This means she benefits from patience and gentle support to help her communicate what she really wants.
She loves film and TV characters—especially musicals—and enjoys showing off her singing talents. At weekends, she attends an ASN dance class, which she really looks forward to. She also enjoys experimenting with makeup, nails, and hairstyles. She is often keen to try new things but may need emotional support to manage her natural anxiety.
Typical duties and responsibilities:
After school, my daughter follows a simple routine. As her PA, you will support her with personal care, having snacks, and providing company while she relaxes on her iPad. If she has the energy, she may like to play or take part in fun activities with her big sister, such as makeovers. A key part of the role is offering reassurance when she feels anxious and helping to create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
About you:
I am looking for someone with experience of autism and learning disabilities, either through work or personal experience, although I’m happy to consider applications on an individual basis. Most importantly, you will bring a calm, reassuring manner, which makes a real difference for my daughter. If you enjoy music and film, that would be an added bonus.
If this sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you!
