Looking for a Personal Assistant to support a young lady to develop her independent living skills.
She is very bright and emotionally attuned, with a passion for animals. She is looking for a PA who can support her to reach her occupational therapy and speech and language therapy goals. This role will include supporting her to visit the stables where she looks after her horse and training her therapy dog. It will also include supporting her with activities of daily living, such as travel training, shopping and ordering food and drinks.
The right PA will have clear and confident communication skills in English, along with a calm, kind and patient approach to supporting someone with selective mutism, ASD and social anxiety disorder. This role would suit someone studying or looking to gain occupational therapy or speech and language therapy experience. You will have the opportunity to gain experience of therapeutic approaches to supporting someone.
She is looking for someone who is supportive, motivating and able to motivate her. Lived experience or a good understanding of neurodiversity would be an advantage. It is essential that you’re an animal lover and must love horses and particularly dogs as you will need to get on with her therapy dog. This role requires the PA to have some flexibility around the hours they work (up to 15 hours per week).
The family/existing PA will provide a full induction and selective mutism training will be provided.
