Summary
A PA is required to support a young male who is very sociable, outgoing and fun, with a cheeky sense of humour! The family are looking to find a PA that can work up to 6 hours a week: one evening during the week between 6pm-8pm and at the weekend between 10am-2pm. The specific days to work can be agreed between the family and PA. The family are happy for the role to be split between 2 PAs i.e. one PA to work the evening shift and another to work at the weekend.
The role is to provide social support to assist the client to engage in the activities the client loves so that the parents can have a break from their responsibilities as carers. This will include going to the park, cinema, bowling, the pub and swimming.
The right PA will need to be physically fit to push a wheelchair, have a good understanding of ASD and able to assist with communication using PECS and Makaton as the client is non-verbal (but understands everything being said). Due to a lung condition, the client needs to carry an oxygen cylinder with him in case his SATS decline rapidly. Parents will provide full training, induction and support to successful applicants.
Enhanced DBS Certificate and references required.
