The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Contract Manager in Waste Management, a vacancy arising due to an internal promotion. The Contract Manager will lead the delivery of high-quality, sustainable services. With the recent move to three-weekly collections, this is a chance to take on exciting challenges: embedding the new service, driving contractor performance, and improving recycling rates while supporting the council’s climate goals. You’ll balance value for money with innovation, working closely with partners to make a real difference for our residents and environment.
We would particularly like to encourage applications from female leaders and individuals from an ethnic minority background.

The Experience you will bring

You will have a strong background in contract management within a waste, recycling, or environmental services background. A Proven ability to manage service change, such as embedding new collection models or major service improvements.
You must have experience of working with contractors to monitor performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement. A sound knowledge of procurement, compliance, and health & safety requirements in a local government context is essential. You must be confident in using data and reporting to inform decisions and provide clear advice to senior officers and members.
You will have experience of working collaboratively with partners, stakeholders, and communities to deliver successful outcomes. You must demonstrate strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead a high performing team, being able to support, guide and develop team members
