The Named Nurse Safeguarding Children will hold the following responsibilities: Clinical: Provide highly specialised advice, support and supervision to Trust Practitioners on all aspects of safeguarding children and young people including the raising of concerns, engaging in safeguarding processes, providing court reports and reports for conferences. Provide advice, support and supervision to Trust staff on all aspects of safeguarding adults at risk including the raising of concerns, engaging in safeguarding processes. Support Trust staff in advocating for children, young people and their families using and promoting Think Family approaches across all services. Support Trust staff and services to ensure compliance with CQC standards. To assess complex situations and sensitive information relating to child and young people and adult safeguarding, support multi-agency working, robust risk assessment, care planning and decision making in line with relevant local and national policy and guidance. To contribute to the identification of risks relating to quality/patient safety/child and adult safeguarding. To comply with NMC and Trust record keeping and information governance legislation and guidance in relation to confidential information and electronic systems. Work closely with colleagues from Sheffield Children Safeguarding Partnership and other partner agencies providing a key point of contact to facilitate safe and effective multi-professional, multi-agency communication and information sharing. Develop effective working relationships to promote multi-agency collaboration and be an active member of multi-agency safeguarding groups. Provide advice, support and training to ensure the Trust is compliant with the requirements of the Working Together to Safeguarding Children (2023) Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Prevent Duty and relevant legislation. Work alongside colleagues in the Safeguarding Team to co-ordinate and respond to notifications of Rapid Reviews, Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Safeguarding Adult Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews. This will include scoping records, preparing chronologies, writing internal management reviews, analysis of practice, recommendations and action plans leading to improvement in practice. To participate in the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) and the Multi-Agency Pregnancy Liaison and Assessment Group (MAPLAG) processes. Work alongside the Patient Safety Specialist to support any internal investigations under the Patient Safety Incident Framework (PSIRF) to ensure the lessons learnt and action plans are identified, implemented and embedded across Trust services. Produce investigation reports of a high standard for submission and presentation at Trust Groups/Committees and Integrated Care Board (ICB) Scrutiny Panels Support the Head of Safeguarding with providing performance data relating to safeguarding children and young people such as safeguarding childrens referrals, Child Protection Conferences, Child Death Overview Panel, supervision and safeguarding children training. Where appropriate, support or lead S42 Investigations into clinical and safeguarding incidents, meeting with staff of all disciplines, patients, relatives and external agencies as required. To take the lead for specialist areas for the Trust as required, e.g. Female Genital Mutilation, Child Sexual / Criminal Exploitation. Service and Policy Development: To work collaboratively with the Head of Safeguarding, the Named Doctor and Named Professional for Adult Safeguarding to ensure an all-age approach to safeguarding across the organisation. To support the Head of Safeguarding with the implementation and leadership of discrete projects within the Safeguarding Team. To support the Head of Safeguarding in the review and development of Child and Adult Safeguarding to ensure efficient, effective and innovative systems and practice are in place. To support the Head of Safeguarding with quarterly and annual reporting cycles and audit programmes as identified by the Trust Board, SCSP, SASP and other relevant external stakeholders. To coordinate case conferences and meetings involving safeguarding incidents linking in social services and clinical colleagues both internal and external. To support the Head of Safeguarding with the development of robust safeguarding children and adult policies, guidelines and standards for the Trust and ensure they are updated to reflect best practice as informed by Rapid Reviews, Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Safeguarding Adults Review, Domestic Homicide Review, audits, new legislation and national guidance. To be responsible for receipt of reports of safeguarding incidents/risks communicating the information to health care practitioners ensuring all the relevant safeguarding issues and actions are understood and that the practitioner feels able to deal with the situation. To contribute to the identification of risks relating to child and adult safeguarding. Attend Sheffield Childrens Safeguarding Partnership subgroups as required and to deputise for the Head of Safeguarding at both Sheffield Childrens and Sheffield Adults partnership meetings when required. Education and Training: To deliver/co deliver multi agency safeguarding children level 3 training alongside SCSP and Domestic Abuse Services. To deliver Trust induction, refresher and safeguarding adults training including MCA, DoLS, Domestic Abuse, FGM and Prevent as and when required. Ensure Trust policies and procedures and SCSP Procedures are accessible to Trust colleagues by developing those necessary, auditing compliance and making changes as necessary. To work in collaboration with the Education, Development and Training team to ensure training is evaluated with regard to effectiveness and monitor training compliance to ensure acceptable levels of compliance are maintained. To demonstrate high level teaching and communication skills and ability to facilitate learning in one-to-one, small groups and large groups. To demonstrate competent IT skills to support the development and delivery of teaching programmes. Knowledge and Skills: To maintain own knowledge and skills and undertake training as compliant with Trust policy and NMC guidance. To engage in professional development as part of Trust Appraisal processes. To demonstrate advanced clinical supervision skills to be able to provide clinical supervision to appropriate co-owners as well as safeguarding supervision on a one to one basis.
