As Ward Manager you will take responsibility for the clinical, operational and managerial leadership of this surgical ward. You will be pivotal in ensuring excellent standards of patient care, safety and experience are maintained, while supporting a high performing, engaged, and well supported nursing team.

The Ward/Department Manager is responsible and accountable for the management of their Ward/Department ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of services and safeguarding high standards of clinical care and ensuring a safe and clean environment.
Responsibilities
Efficient management of the ward/department to ensure the setting and maintaining high standards of clinical care, the effective use of resources including the delivery of a balanced budget,
Act as a role model, clinical lead and mentor
Take a proactive role in developing effective and supportive teamwork.
Ensure excellent communications within the ward team. Setting an example by encouraging effective and timely verbal written communications to patients/clients, relatives, visitors and colleagues,
Ensure Wirral Hospital objectives , policies, protocols and guidelines etc are adhered to by all staff.
Set and monitor protocols and objectives for main areas of responsibility.
Recruitment, selection, training and development of staff.
Implement and maintain a system of objective setting and performance review in accordance with Wirral Hospitals agreed policy.
Work with Directorate management team to investigate and/or propose alternative approaches for achieving improvements, this includes clinical, environmental and Health and safety issues.
Ensure Wirral Hospital infection control and cleaning standards are adhered to and maintained.
Promote good inter-directorate relationships.
Ensure systems are in place for the effective and timely admissions and discharge of patients
