Summary


As Ultrasound Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled sonographers across four key sites: Arrowe Park, St Catherine’s, Victoria Central, and our newly opened Clatterbridge Diagnostic Centre. You will oversee the delivery of a comprehensive 7-day ultrasound service, which includes general and obstetric imaging, as well as a range of subspecialties such as musculoskeletal (MSK), head and neck, and paediatrics.

You will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of patient care, ensuring clinical excellence, and fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.

To succeed in this role, you should possess strong organisational and leadership skills, along with a deep understanding of operational processes within a clinical setting. Applicants must hold a recognised ultrasound qualification—PgCert, PgDip, or Direct-Entry Masters—and be eligible to work in the United Kingdom with HCPC, NMC, or equivalent registration.

The Ultrasound Manager will be responsible for the operational and professional management of a 24/7 ultrasound service, covering inpatient, outpatient, and GP referrals across four sites, including maternity services.

This role involves ensuring the service meets national performance targets and supports ongoing service development.

The post-holder will lead audit activities and uphold standards in line with both national and local guidelines. They will be expected to assess service needs, plan effectively, and ensure that targets and objectives are consistently achieved.

Responsibilities also include managing a delegated budget, overseeing all aspects of HR for sonographers, clinical support workers (CSWs), chaperones, and student sonographers, and leading on staff recruitment and training.

Additionally, the Ultrasound Manager will ensure full compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) and health and safety (H&S) standards across the service.
