We are looking for an efficient, hardworking and enthusiastic Assistant Legal Officer to join the Community Team within Legal Services. The successful candidate will work within the litigation sections of our team, as operational needs require.
Candidates must have previous experience of legal work.
You will required to carry out a range of specialised legal duties including accurately preparing legal proceedings under the Single Justice Procedure, updating and maintaining bundles of evidence for use in trials and other hearings, and giving procedural legal advice. The post will involve a significant amount of liaison with our clients.
You should be confident in dealing with clients, partners, external professionals and also members of the public. You must be highly organised and have excellent administrative, IT and communication skills.
The work can be demanding and as the team is very busy you must be able to demonstrate that you are able to deal effectively with a large workload which is subject to tight deadlines.
You may be required to attend court to liaise between witnesses and solicitors/barristers representing the Council.
