Summary

Fixed Term for up to 12 months to cover Maternity LeaveAbout the Role
Are you passionate about democracy and delivering excellent public service? Hull City Council is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Electoral Services professional to support the delivery of elections and electoral registration services. Covering maternity leave, you will play a key role in ensuring our democratic processes are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in line with statutory requirements.
Reporting to the Electoral Services Manager, you will assist in managing all aspects of electoral administration, including planning and delivering the Local Government elections in May 2026.
Your role will involve:

Assisting the Electoral Services Manager in planning, coordinating, and delivering all elections and referenda.
Supporting the maintenance and accuracy of the electoral register in compliance with legal requirements.
Supervising, training, and motivating staff, including temporary election staff during busy periods.
Ensuring compliance with electoral law, Council policies, and data protection regulations.
Liaising with political parties, candidates, external agencies, and other stakeholders.
Assisting in developing and implementing improvements to electoral processes and services.
Supporting the financial and administrative management of the Electoral Services team.

What we are looking for:

An understanding of UK electoral legislation, regulations and processes.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong self-management skills, drive and determination coupled with good organisational abilities to be able to work to tight deadlines and monitor progress.
Ability to provide training and guidance to as well as supervising and motivating staff, including temporary election colleagues
