Crynodeb

Are you a good people manager with a passion for libraries? Do you have excellent customer service skills and a positive and cheerful attitude?

We are looking for someone to join the Bollington Library Team (as Maternity cover) in the role of Senior Library Assistant.

If you embrace new technologies, are able to work to deadlines, have experience of working in a public library, and are looking for a varied and exciting role, where no two days are the same, then this vacancy may be the role for you.

The role will involve all aspects of library work; including issuing and returning books, shelving, helping customers use computers, staffing the Customer Service Point where we assist customers with all aspects of council business, leading children's and adult activities, and providing a warm and welcoming space to a whole host of groups and activities that take place in the library.

You would be managing a small team, so we need someone friendly, confident and flexible, with excellent communication and organisational skills.

You will also operate various business support systems, and carry out administrative procedures relating to staff, finance, stock and property, and will be expected to work closely with the Library Manager, Librarians & Stock Specialists to ensure all aspects of the library run smoothly.

You will be communicating regularly with the 'Friends of Bollington Library' and Bollington Town Council members, alongside other groups, so you need to be able to develop positive working relationships with various partners and service providers.

You should have an interest in books, lifelong learning, and helping people. Have a good knowledge of MS Office applications and be flexible and willing to work at other locations if required.

Cheshire East is an amazing place to live and work. As one of the largest employers in the borough, we are able to offer you a wide range of challenging and rewarding career opportunities.

We are working for a brighter future – together and our commitment to you is that our workplace culture will provide a shared purpose, a well-led organisation with valued people succeeding together as one team and one council to deliver the best service for our customers and communities.

If you want to be part of our award-winning council and contribute to our ongoing success, have the flexibility and drive to enable us to innovate, are committed to working as part of a team and striving to deliver exceptional service wherever you can, we would especially like to hear from you.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and want our workforce to reflect the diversity of our local communities so that we can all work for a brighter future - together.

Applicants should ensure all sections of the application form are completed as failure to do so will result in their application being rejected. Please ensure you check the email account (including junk/spam boxes) from which you apply regularly as we will use this to contact you regarding your application.

If you have not heard from us within 4 weeks of the closing date then it is likely that you have not been shortlisted on this occasion, however, please do not be discouraged from applying again.

The hours are to be worked over a two week timetable and will include one late finish (6pm) and every other Saturday 9.
