It’s an exciting time to join us.

The Forensic Outreach and Liaison Service is a specialist service for Kent, providing a safe, effective and timely pathway from medium/low secure care into the community, for people requiring ongoing specialist forensic mental health care.

We are recruiting two Band 4 Assistant Psychologists, one full-time post and one part-time post

These are challenging posts for two dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologists who are keen to support patients moving from secure services to be reintegrated into the community.

These posts are subject to a six-month probationary period for candidates external to the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

To deliver an effective service, it is essential that you are able to travel between bases in a timely manner.

We take pride in our services, which are underpinned by our values:

• We are caring-This is where it all begins and where we make a real difference, for everyone. We're here to care, truly care. That means seeing each other, listening and knowing we're all valued. We look after each other because happy people give the best care. Every win, big or small, matters – it's someone's progress. And even when things get tough, we'll always be kind, always listen and always respect.
• To provide clinical, research and administrative support to the psychology staff in the FOLS team, under their direct guidance and supervision, in order to assist in providing and monitoring the service provision within the Service Line.
• Take an active role in coordinating and conducting initial assessments and formulations under the supervision of a qualified clinician. Contribute to the development of risk formulations and treatment planning.
• Administer and score assessment instruments and other forms of assessment and compile reports.
• Co-facilitate structured groups such as anger management, social skills and problem solving.
• Take part in audit, Qi and research.
• Supporting FOLS to provide tailored support to autistic clients.
• Provision of administrative support to the psychologist and psychotherapist, including literature searches for relevant articles and the collation of information for case conferences.
• The posts will be based in the FOLS team and are predominantly patient-facing.
• The post holders will work with highly emotive content and manage high levels of mental exertion for extended periods of time on a daily basis

The main responsibility of the post-holder is to participate in the provision of Psychological Services to offenders within the FOLS service

Bringing to bear clinical and data analysis skills, you will be developing a role already established within the team to work closely with service users, ward staff/ support staff, and the wider team in supporting the delivery of a comprehensive psychology service to our patients and evaluation of the services.

The post will involve working closely with other agencies, including Community services and the Criminal Justice System.

The hardest part of the job is to co-ordinate a number of inter-related, and often time consuming, tasks within the time and resource demands of the service.
