An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to be appointed to a post within Environment, Housing & Infrastructure based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley. The posts will be placed within both the Business Regulation Team/Public Health Team within Public Protection having a particular focus on food law interventions and the successful applicant must meet the qualification and competency requirements detailed in the Food Law Code of Practice (Scotland) in respect of official controls for food law.
You will be responsible for undertaking food law inspections, health and safety inspections, accident investigations, dealing with a range of complaints including food complaints, infectious disease surveillance, responding to licensing consultations and issuing export health certificates. It is therefore essential that you have relevant experience working as an Environmental Health Officer in these areas.
You must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and be able to work as part of a team as well as working on your own initiative with minimum supervision. You must also be able to deal with the public and have effective communication, reporting and IT skills.
You must hold a Degree in Environmental Health and the Diploma in Environmental Health issued by the Royal Environmental Health institute of Scotland (or equivalent qualifications) or working towards obtaining the Diploma in Environmental Health issued by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.
It is essential you have relevant experience within an Environmental Health Service, including food law, health and Safety and Public Health enforcement, thorough knowledge of Environmental Health procedures and practices and current Driving Licence.
You will require to participate in Public Protection Stand by Service therefore, you must be able to work flexibly.
Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 6 months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
