Your New Job

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join a thriving special primary school in Tameside. You will support pupils aged 4-11, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and present with complex learning difficulties and autism, or are on the pathway to diagnosis. Your role will involve:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
  • Supporting pupils' physical, social and emotional development
  • Engaging in outdoor activities in all weather conditions

  • Physically strong and resilient
  • Calm, patient, and able to manage challenging behaviour
  • Kind, caring, and passionate about SEND education
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding practices
  • Experienced (or willing to gain experience) in supporting children with autism and complex needs
  • Experience in a school or care setting is desirable but not essential. A willingness to undertake training such as Team Teach and safeguarding is required.
