Join TeamIWC as a Campaigns and Media Officer
Are you a creative communicator with a flair for storytelling, digital engagement, and social media? As part of our dynamic team of Campaigns and Media Officers, you’ll use your copywriting, editing, and content creation skills across a range of digital platforms to spotlight the full breadth of the council’s services.
Your mission: to strengthen communications with our community and partners by delivering integrated media, marketing, and digital campaigns that support every aspect of the council’s work. You’ll bring our organisational objectives to life through impactful tactical communications that drive engagement and make a real difference.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, you’ll work closely with council services, elected members, and media contacts to ensure the right messages reach the right audiences. You’ll help grow and optimise our communication channels, ensuring they’re vibrant, informative, and well-used.
A key part of your role will be supporting the Social Media Manager in planning and creating engaging content for our social media channels — including short-form video, graphics, and written posts — to help build our online presence and connect with residents in fresh and meaningful ways.
Your day-to-day will also include responding to media enquiries and managing press relations, briefing and advising senior officers and members for interviews, and providing out-of-hours cover and crisis communications support when needed.
You’ll also lead and support consultation and engagement activities including surveys and roadshows, ensuring residents, businesses, and stakeholders across the Island are involved in shaping decisions that affect them.
This is a rewarding role where your work will have visible impact, from Adult Social Care and Children’s Services to regeneration and environmental initiatives.
If you’re looking for a role where you’re valued, where your work matters, and where you can make a difference, join us at TeamIWC.
In your application we will be looking for evidence of your experience of successful working in this field, including reference to the following.
Practical evidenced experience of media relations management, integrating marketing into campaigns, negotiation and consultations.
Experience in online publishing and editing.
Knowledge of e-communication tools and its use in achieving effective communication internally and externally.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships and influence others to ensure the best results for all.
Experience of writing communication plans with services to capture requirements and outcomes effectively.
Experience of leading and supporting communication around major projects
Proven ability to explain technical / specialist information in a way which a non-specialist can understand.
You will be educated to level 4 in relevant subject or have equivalent experience in communications specialist roles.
