Job Description

ROLE: Activities Co-ordinator in a Care Home

RESPONSIBLE TO: Registered Manager

AIMS: To provide activities both internal and external

HOURS: 15hrs. - 10:00 – 15:00
(3 out of 7 days a week – weekends must be worked one in one off)

WAGE: National Minimum Wage

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
• Must be able to provide Activities for within the Care Home and outside.

• Must be Computer Literate

• Must write up Daily reports

• Must produce a monthly Newsletter, enclosing a review form and any other necessary communication. Each one must be written up individually in the post out book (Deb - Head Administrator has this) with the name of the Recipient and the initials of the Resident, and they must be sent (2nd Class). You must inform Deb - Head Administrator; well in advance when you require these stamps.

• Must arrange events to profit the Residents Social Fund.

• Will be required to arrange parties for Special Occasions, purchase the necessary decorations, and a prizes for Residents from the Resident Social Club and liaise with the Cook on Duty to make sure a Buffett Tea and Cake in line with the Occasion.

• If the above Special Occasions fall on a Night or a Weekend, you will be required to work these and take the time off in Lieu. I.e. if it is on a Night, you may commence working later that day, or split the shift with morning and night. Please inform the Management Office well in advance of all changes in shift.

• Arrange a special Tea for a Resident’s Birthday, or Wedding Anniversary, making sure there is a Cake made by the Kitchen Staff and a Card from the Residents Fund.

• Must carry out Residents and Family meetings four times a year.

MANDATORY REQUIRMENTS:

• Maintains standards of Resident privacy and confidentiality.

• To attend meetings and participate in ‘in-house’ training and to carry learned skills into practice.

• To ensure that services are provided in accordance with the Care Home’s standards for Equal Opportunities and objectives of Quality Assurance.

• To perform such other duties, of a like nature, as may from time to time be required by the Director/Manager/Deputy Manager/Senior Carer/Head Administrator.
