Registered Veterinary Nurse (Part-Time, 12-Month Fixed Term Contract) – East London
• Part-time, 12-month fixed term contract – Thursdays and Fridays with a fair weekend and bank holiday rota
• Competitive salary – £14,500–£16,000 (part-time, inclusive of weekends) / £32,000–£35,000 FTE, depending on experience
• Supportive and friendly team – work alongside vets, a senior RVN, students, and trainee nurses
• Excellent benefits – 6.6 weeks’ annual leave (pro rata), CPD budget with paid CPD leave, paid lunch breaks, and optional private healthcare
About the Role
This position has arisen as one of the practice’s much-loved RVNs begins their parenting journey at the end of the year. As one of the busiest practices in the group, the team also works closely with a nearby consult-only clinic, supporting their surgical cases and creating a lively and varied “mini hub.” With planned investment in diagnostic imaging facilities, the caseload continues to grow in both scope and diversity.
The practice itself features two consulting rooms, a large prep and theatre area, separate dog and cat wards, and a well-equipped laboratory. This role would suit an RVN looking to step away from full-time locum work and enjoy the stability and benefits of a permanent contract, while retaining flexibility for other pursuits such as hobbies, volunteering, or occasional locum shifts.
The part-time rota consists of 8-hour shifts on Thursdays and Fridays, averaging 18.4 hours per week, inclusive of:
• 1:4 branch Saturday rotation
• 1:20 hospital Sunday rotation
• 1 bank holiday per year at a sister hospital
The successful candidate will join a supportive team of vets, a senior RVN, students, and trainee nurses who thrive on teamwork and camaraderie, even on the busiest of days. The practice is further supported by a 24-hour sister Veterinary Hospital, ensuring patients receive exceptional out-of-hours and specialist care, as well as by a dedicated regional manager.
Benefits include:
• Salary band: £14,500–£16,000 (part-time, inclusive of weekends) / £32,000–£35,000 FTE, dependent on experience
• 6.6 weeks’ annual leave, including bank holidays (pro rata)
• CPD allowance plus up to 2 days’ paid CPD leave annually
• Paid 30-minute lunch breaks
• Access to a private medical healthcare scheme at a reduced rate, with medical cashback incentives
This role represents a rare chance to join a vibrant, well-equipped practice with a strong support network, whilst enjoying the flexibility of part-time hours.
