Support Worker (Children & Young People)
Location: Uxbridge
Salary: up to £28,500 per annum (DOE)
Full-time | Rolling rota (includes sleep-ins)
We are recruiting Support Workers to join an Ofsted-registered residential home for adolescent boys with Learning Disabilities and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This role is ideal for someone with a QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent, who is passionate about making a positive impact in young people's lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care, promoting the health, welfare, education and development of young people.
- Contribute to a safe, supportive and homely environment where young people feel secure and valued.
- Support daily routines, including household tasks, appointments, education, leisure activities and family contact.
- Build positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- Assist with keyworker responsibilities, contributing to care plans and progress reviews.
- Apply de-escalation and behaviour management strategies when required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, social workers and external professionals.
- Participate in training and professional development, including undertaking the Diploma Level 4 in Residential Childcare (sponsored after probation).
Shift Pattern
- Rolling rota of 1 day on, 2 days off.
- Requirement of 12.5 shifts per month, including sleep-ins (shared within the team).
Requirements
- QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent (essential).
- Experience working with young people in a residential, educational, or care setting.
- Strong communication, teamwork and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging behaviour calmly.
- Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards.
- Driving licence desirable (occasional travel with young people is required).
