Senior Residential Care Worker

Location: Uxbridge
Salary: up to £30,000 depending on experience
Full-time, permanent

We are recruiting an experienced Senior Residential Care Worker to join an Ofsted-registered residential home supporting adolescent boys with Learning Disabilities and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care that promotes the health, welfare and development of young people.
  • Lead shifts and take responsibility for the operation of the home when required.
  • Act as keyworker for individual young people: contribute to care plans, reviews and transitions.
  • Supervise, support and develop junior staff, including carrying out formal supervisions.
  • Manage day-to-day household routines (cooking, shopping, appointments, activities) and support education participation.
  • Apply approved de-escalation and behaviour-management strategies, record and report incidents appropriately.
  • Maintain compliance with Ofsted standards, safeguarding procedures, and company policies.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive culture that respects young people's social, emotional and cultural needs.

Working pattern

  • Rolling rota: 1 day on, 2 days off, with a requirement of 12.5 shifts per month.
  • The rota includes sleep-ins, which are shared across the team. Any shortfall against the 12.5 shift requirement will be scheduled within the same month.

Person specification / requirements

  • QCF / NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent (essential).
  • Proven experience working in residential childcare, ideally with young people with Learning Disabilities and EBD.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, childcare legislation and Ofsted standards.
  • Experience of supervising or leading staff and conducting formal supervisions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and confident record-keeping.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to professional development.
  • Driving licence desirable (role may involve taking young people to appointments).

Benefits

  • Competitive salary £30,000 DOE.
  • Professional development and training opportunities (support for Level 5 progression available).
  • A supportive team environment and a chance to make a tangible difference in young people's lives.
