We are offering an exciting opportunity to join Wessex Area’s Hinkley Point C (HPC) team as a Technical Assistant. This role supports our regulation of one of UK’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects, helping to ensure environmental protection and regulatory compliance throughout the construction of the new nuclear power station.

You’ll be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working closely with technical specialists, regulatory officers, and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include: -

-Providing administrative and technical support to the HPC regulatory team
-Managing & maintaining accurate records, data systems and document control
-Assisting in the coordination of site visits, inspections and stakeholder meetings
-Support the preparation of briefings, reports and technical summaries
-Track actions and ensure timely follow up to support regulatory compliance

The team

The Hinkley Point C (HPC) team is responsible for regulating and overseeing the environmental aspects of the construction and future operation of the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset. This includes:- Regulating Environmental Permits covering water discharges and waste activities, reviewing monitoring data, engaging with stakeholders, responding to environmental incidents, providing technical advice and encouraging best practice to secure positive Environmental outcomes.

Experience/skills required

Skills required include:

• ability to work on their own initiative to set up and achieve tasks;
• proven good standard of customer service;
• competent in records management or an ability to learn what is needed;
• good communicating skills;
• good organising skills;
• high awareness of political and commercial sensitivity.

We’re looking for candidates with enthusiasm and the right skills to succeed in the role. Training and support will be provided.
