Summary

Reporting to: Deputy Managers; Care Home Managers

Hours of Work: This position requires five shifts per week, or such hours as required to meet the job description, on a rota basis and on call duties.

Purpose of Position
1. To share with the other team members in meeting all the needs of the service users in such a way that promotes the following: - Privacy, Dignity, Choice, Independence, and Fulfilment: both in the home environment and the community.
2. To promote high domestic standards of the physical environment and report any concerns.
3. To provide support, supervision, and guidance to other members of the staff team, recording such supervision and appraisal accordingly.
4. To convey through appropriate communication the company’s aims, objectives, and goals.

Principle Responsibilities
• To significantly contribute, following appropriate training, to the compiling, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the service users care plans and risk assessments. To assist with the preparation of reports and participate proactively in service users reviews as required by the Care Home Manager.
• To be respectful that the Home is the service users’ home and staff are guests within it. To promote and support the service users’ freedom of choice, religious and cultural practices, leisure interests and community participation, encouraging service users to form their own social contacts.
• To record and report to the Deputy Manager or Care Home Manager any concerns or changes in the service users’ health and/or behaviour, making appropriate arrangements with medical professionals to support with this and communicating as required to the wider senior team and staff team.
• To be sensitive and aware of the service users emotional and psychological needs and support them through the various life experiences, both positive and negative, in a positive manner.
• To actively promote anti-discriminatory practice and comply with the requirements of equal opportunities and disability discrimination. Report to the Deputy Manager and Care Home Manager any such malpractice towards either service users or staff.
• To access, adhere to and implement all policies, procedures and plans of care including risk assessments.
• To confidently utilise our digital care management software i.e. Nourish.
• To actively support service users in all aspects of daily living in a respectful manner promoting equality.
• To administer medication (after training) according to the homes procedures and requirements laid down by the National Minimum Standards.
• To complete medication and environmental audits.
• You are required to assess the situation of service users’ seizures and administer medication according to approved care plans and training.
• Familiarise and assist with the ordering and auditing of medications.
• To actively support and mentor the staff team to meet their duties, managing poor performance or conduct issues appropriately and within their remit. Report any such issues and action taken to Deputy and Care Home Manager.
• To pass on appropriate guidance and support to new members of staff and be actively involved in their induction training and the recording of such induction.
• Responsible for delegating care duties to members of staff under their jurisdiction and ensuring that all appointments are attended.
• To be responsible for the safety of service users and the running of the home in the absence of Deputy Manager.
• Be aware of regular and legislative fire testing and to ensure recording and reporting is carried out.
• To ensure that service users notice board is kept up to date with practical and interesting information – service users can be encouraged to participate with this.
• To attend training courses required within your role and as identified by the Care Home Manager.
• To ensure record keeping and communication complies with policy and data protection to maintain confidentiality within the staff team, wider organisation and outside agencies.
• To ensure that each staff member designated to you has their allocated six supervisions annually.
• Take responsibility for maintaining health and safety in the workplace according to legislation, Health and Safety Policies, procedures and guidelines ensuring reporting and recording any concerns, incidents, accidents and faults etc.
