Are you a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine impact? Long Term Futures have partnered with a fantastic primary school in Lambeth that is seeking a dedicated individual to work with a pupil on a one-to-one basis. The school is committed to fostering the growth and development of every pupil, particularly those with complex Special Educational Needs.
The Opportunity
This full-time position is based within a "Good"-rated primary school. You will provide crucial support to a pupil with specific needs, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and personally. The role is a long-term position with the potential for a permanent contract.
You will work closely with the class teacher and specialist staff to deliver a dynamic and accessible curriculum designed to help the pupil reach their full potential.
What will you do?
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing bespoke support aligned with the pupil's specific SEN, including communication and learning challenges.
- Assisting with personalised learning activities, adapting resources, and supporting the development of independence and life skills.
- Implementing effective communication strategies.
- Working proactively with the class teacher and external professionals.
- Implementing positive behaviour support plans, creating a calm and supportive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
To be successful, you must have proven experience supporting primary-aged children with specific needs. You should have a strong understanding of various SEN diagnoses and an adaptable, patient, and resilient approach. Excellent interpersonal skills are also essential for working with the pupil, staff, and parents.
