Your New Job

You will be working as a SEND Teaching Assistant supporting students aged 11-19 with a range of complex learning needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and autism spectrum conditions (ASC). Your role will involve working closely with class teachers and therapists to deliver tailored support, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. You'll help implement EHCP targets, support communication and sensory needs, and contribute to a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.

Your New Company

This is a highly regarded specialist secondary school in Salford, part of a respected multi-academy trust. The school is rated Outstanding by Ofsted and is known for its innovative, person-centred approach to education. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the school operates across three well-resourced sites to meet growing demand. The school's ethos centres on creating the right life opportunities for every learner through high-quality specialist education and care. Staff work collaboratively with families, therapists, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for every student.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly those with SLD, PMLD, or ASC
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to undertake personal care and manual handling (training provided)
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential

What You'll Get in Return

  • A long-term or permanent opportunity in a supportive and welcoming school
  • Ongoing CPD and training, including access to specialist SEND strategies
  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people
  • Competitive daily rate paid weekly via Hays
  • Access to Hays Hub for career support and resources
