Are you a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant looking for a meaningful role in a specialist education setting? This full-time opportunity is based in a Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South Manchester, supporting children aged 5-11 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role is initially offered on a temporary basis, with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent from Christmas for the right candidate. You'll work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored interventions, manage behaviour positively, and help pupils re-engage with learning.

This Primary PRU is a well-regarded specialist provision supporting children who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools. The school offers a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach to education, focusing on emotional regulation, restorative practice, and personalised learning pathways.With small class sizes, a high staff-to-pupil ratio, and a strong multi-agency support network, the school provides a safe and structured environment where pupils can thrive. Staff are supported with ongoing CPD, reflective practice, and a collaborative team ethos.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- A recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE, NCFE, or equivalent)
- Experience working with children with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- A current Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply through Hays)
