PRU Teaching Assistant - Primary – Manchester – Step Teachers
Start: ASAP (Sept 2025) Pay: £95/day (PAYE)
Hours: Full-time Mon–Fri 8:30am–3:30pm
Contract: Temp-to-Perm for the right person.
We’re working with a Primary Pupil Referral Unit in Manchester, a specialist setting supporting pupils aged 5–11 who’ve experienced barriers to mainstream education due to SEMH needs and behavioural challenges. This role is ideal for someone confident, resilient, and passionate about helping children thrive in a structured, supportive environment. The setting focuses on safety, inclusion, positive re-enforcement and fun. They foster a supportive and collaborative environment where all pupils & staff matter.
As a PRU Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, using strategies from Team Teach to help manage behaviour, regulate emotions, and re-engage with learning. You’ll work alongside teachers and therapists in a setting that prioritises nurture, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
To succeed in this role, you must have at least 3 months' experience working with children or young people and Team Teach training is essential. You’ll need to be calm under pressure, patient, and ready to make a lasting impact.
