Starting date: 12thFebruary 2026 for a period of 18 to 24 months
Salary: Minimum National Wage plus full board & Lodging for 35 hours a week

Duties and responsibilities:
A group of three Kirtania Jathas are required to assist in the day to day activities of our Gurudwara. The successful applicants will be required to undertake daily religious recitals and must have a working knowledge of the appropriate verses with accompanying music for each occasion. Duties include attending the cleaning and preparation of the Shri Guru Granth Sahib at the start and end of each day.
The successful candidates must be Amritdhari and be fluent in spoken and written Punjabi - the core language of the Sikh faith. They must be proficient in the use of a selection of musical instruments - including the harmonium and tabla - used to perform kirtan and classical ragas. They will be responsible for recital of the prescribed scriptures on a daily basis and at formal ceremonies throughout the Sikh calendar as instructed by the nominated Head Granti and/or the Management Committee.
These are a non-pastorial appointments. The post holders will not be required to deliver sermons, ordain or solemnise civil marriages. The marriage ceremonies are conducted by the Hon. Secretary of the Temple and the Jathas are required to read and sing the accompanying hymns from the Shri Guru Granth Sahib in accordance with the Sikh Maryada in support of the officiant. The Jathas will be required to be on site at all times and will be charged with ensuring that the prayer hall and building is kept in a clean and presentable condition.
