This is a rare opportunity to take on a unique role supporting the Ceremonial Mayor of the City of Salford. We are looking for a Ceremonial Mayors Attendant / Chauffeur / Macebearer to support the Ceremonial Mayor in carrying out his / her civic duties, and to drive the Ceremonial Mayor to and from engagements.
As well as providing advice on procedure and etiquette at formal functions and events, you will also support the Ceremonial Mayor at those events in promoting the City. You will be able to project an air of authority at civic functions. However, it is just as important that you can work with and relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds, from dignitaries to primary school children. As a result, you will need to be personable, adaptable and flexible, and be able to think on your feet to meet the demands of the Ceremonial Mayor and the people they meet.
The role calls for flexibility, often working a pattern than can include early starts or late finishes or and working on any day of the week, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
You’ll be responsible for everything from making sure the appropriate insignia is worn, through to receiving guests and announcing their arrival. At certain occasions, you’ll even find yourself acting as Macebearer.
Committed to achieving high standards in all you do, you are very organised yet flexible, and able to change plans at short notice.
You will work a flexible 30-hour week (annualised hours) that may include weekends, evenings and bank holidays, to suit the timing of engagements accepted by the Ceremonial Mayor.
You will also need a full driving license and a clean driving record.
Contact michelle.lindsay@salford.gov.uk (Senior Democratic Services Officer) if you have any queries about the role.
We will not be accepting candidates who require a sponsorship for this position.
