We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated registered pharmacy technician to join the dispensary team at York Hospital.

As the Senior Pharmacy Technician in the dispensary you will work within our well-established and friendly team to ensure that we deliver the best possible service. This role will enable you to develop your skills within a dispensary environment, it will also enable you to build skills and experience in workflow management and team leading.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You must be committed to providing a high-quality patient focused service and be able to adapt to changing demands.

We welcome applications from pharmacy technicians that have registered within the last year. These applicants, if successful at interview, will be appointed at band 4 for a period of up to 1 year whilst experience is gained, and appropriate competency developed to fully perform the role of a senior pharmacy technician.

The role of the successful candidate will include:
• Management and prioritisation of workflow in the dispensary.
• Dispensing and accuracy checking prescriptions received.
• Allocating and managing the rota planning for dispensary and support staff to ensure that service needs are met.
• Supporting with managing reported dispensary learning events and working closely with the dispensary learning events group to support improvements and reduce the risk of learning events recurring.
• Completing appraisals, sickness absence reporting and mentoring /training of allocated staff.
• Reviewing and implementing SOPs and competency documents as required.
• Working closely with the Principal Pharmacy Technician to develop the current service.
• Participating in weekend and bank holiday service delivery. This is organised on a rota basis.
