Job Advert

Your role is all about helping others to maintain and improve their personal wellbeing by maintaining social interactions,
reducing isolation and loneliness, trying new activities, learning new skills, and supporting them to access further appropriate
help through sign-posting. Being a sessional wellbeing support worker is a key role to provide our participants with the first
steps towards skills, qualifications and confidence to develop in their personal and career goals.

As a Sessional Wellbeing support Worker a typical day might include:

* Facilitating specific Wellbeing Activities and groups for participants across our provision
* You will be supported in your role and provided supervision by a nominated Community Connector.

* Contributing to the development of wellbeing provision and specific activities through the application of your own special
interests or hobbies, such as Crafts or Gardening.

* Preparing for an activity in advance of people arriving and clearing up at the end of the session.
* Making refreshments available to group participants.
* Ensuring that participants are made to feel welcome and are integrated into the specified activity.
* Reporting to the Community Connector or Wellbeing Hub Co-Ordinator any concerns about participants or issues raised by them, so
that they can receive further support.
* Supporting a participant to try a new activity or group.
* Ensuring that participant documentation and registers are completed in a timely manner and updated as necessary.




The must haves:

* A real passion for working with people, to help them achieve their goals.
* Adaptable and flexible in your approach, willing to try new ways of working.
* Experience of supporting people with poor mental health or wellbeing.
* An understanding of the factors that lead to poor mental health and wellbeing and how to address them.
* An interest in their local community and what else is out there to support participant wellbeing.
* Effective oral and written communication, numeracy, computer and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff and
participants alike.
* A commitment and ability to comply with all Acis policies and procedures including Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety
policies, etc.
* A commitment to undertaking and maintaining mandatory training and keeping up to date with e-learning and other in-service
training as required.

The desirables:

* Although your work schedule will normally be planned with you well in advance, you will have some flexibility with regard to
when you can work, and will be able to cover groups at short notice, in an exceptional circumstance.
* Mental Health First Aid training or a willingness to undertake this training.
* You’ll be able to support activities beyond your primary area of expertise or interest.

* Experience of teaching/training or working with groups of adults in appropriate field.
* Ambition to develop your skills and experience, with a view to progression within the team.
