Leading Legal Practice as Head of Employment Law

Are you an accomplished Employment Solicitor looking for your next leadership challenge? Our client, a respected law firm based in Tamworth, is seeking a dynamic Head of Employment Law to lead their thriving Employment team. This is a unique opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping the future of the department and the wider practice.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Employment Law department, ensuring high standards of client service, supervision, and compliance.
Collaborate with the senior management team to influence firm-wide decisions and attend regular strategy meetings.
Drive team performance through effective file reviews, work allocation, and mentoring junior lawyers.
Maintain a strong personal caseload, achieving annual billing targets (1265 chargeable hours) while ensuring profitability.
Inspire excellence in legal practice, client care, and business ethics across the team.
Spearhead the marketing and business development strategy for the department.
Contribute to budgeting, credit control, and fee recovery processes.
Proactively cross-sell services and build long-term relationships with clients and referral partners.
Enhance the firm’s visibility and reputation through outstanding client engagement and sector insight.

About You

Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer with at least 4 years’ post-qualified experience in Employment Law.
Demonstrable experience in both claimant and respondent work, ideally with advocacy exposure.
A natural leader with the ability to inspire and develop others.
Commercially astute with a strategic mindset and excellent marketing instincts.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
Proficient in legal case management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
Driven by high standards, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering excellent client outcomes.
