Job description:

Our client, is seeking an experienced and proactive Process Engineer to lead continuous improvement and operational excellence across their manufacturing processes. This key leadership role bridges Production and Engineering, focusing on process stability, reliability, and operator engagement.

You will drive Lean-based continuous improvement projects, develop and maintain SOPs and Work Instructions, support Autonomous Maintenance programs, and act as a technical coach for production staff. This role involves both technical expertise and cultural leadership, championing a proactive, quality-driven manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodology to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste.
Develop, maintain, and communicate clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
Lead Autonomous Maintenance programs by training operators in diagnostics, routine checks, and basic maintenance.
Provide technical coaching and training to production staff on maintenance routines and process controls.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to analyse root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date process documentation, maintenance records, and improvement logs.
Support equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications with process impact analysis and operator training.
Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement aligned with company values.
Facilitate communication between maintenance, engineering, and production to ensure smooth PM and improvement activities.
Monitor KPIs related to equipment reliability, downtime, and quality, reporting progress to management.
Optimise manufacturing processes through ERP by refining routings, timings, and standard operations; analyse production data for efficiency and cost control.
Qualifications & Experience:

Essential: Engineering background with hands-on manufacturing experience.
Essential: Proven experience creating and writing SOPs and WIs to support consistent, compliant manufacturing.
Desirable: Experience with CMMS software administration (preferably Limble), including PM creation and upkeep.
Desirable: Yellow or Green Belt certification in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Desirable: Experience or willingness to use known methods/software to develop SOPs and WIs.
Desirable: Previous experience training or coaching production staff.
Knowledge and Skills:

Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, preventive maintenance, and fault diagnosis in manufacturing.
Solid knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
Ability to develop clear and effective SOPs and Work Instructions.
Skilled in delivering training and fostering operator engagement with autonomous maintenance and quality routines.
Competent in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation.
Proficient in IT skills, including Microsoft Office and technical software applications.
Familiar with CMMS platforms and best practices in Preventive Maintenance scheduling.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday - Days.

Salary:
£38,000 - £40,000 dependant upon experience.
