Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is aspiring to be an outstanding provider of mental health and community services, and central to this ambition is a modern and progressive HR function.

We are recruiting for a full-time Senior HR Advisor to join our team based Littlemore Mental Health Centre in Oxford. You'll be responsible for providing managers with comprehensive and professional advice on a variety of workforce issues, supporting employees relations cases, working with operational managers to review structures and provide HR advice in relation to organisational change.

This is a key role in our HR function where you'll be supporting clinical teams and managers with your knowledge and experience. We provide an efficient, responsive, and professional HR advisory service so your role will involve visiting sites across a wide geographical area as required and you'll need a flexible approach with the ability to use your initiative to help managers resolve workforce challenges.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting the HR Consultant in leading and implementing organisational change
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on aspects of employment law and best practice; including the management of a defined Employee Relations case load
  • Interpretation and application of AFC terms and conditions
  • Enabling managers to understand their duties and to make informed decisions on HR issues
  • Advising on and interpretation of HR policies and procedure, including complex employee relations matters

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We're looking for candidates with a postgraduate level qualification in HR Management and/or significant demonstrable experience of working in a large complex organisation handling employee relations issues including sickness absence management, employment law and performance management issues. Experience of managing multi-faceted employee relations issues is essential.

  • Educated to Postgraduate level (PGDiploma in HR Management/development) or knowledge & equivalent experience.
Experience Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within an organisation with formal Trade Union recognition
Knowledge Essential criteria
  • Significant demonstrable experience of Human Resources issues in a large complex organisation including sickness absence management, employment law and performance management issues, and intricate / multi-faceted employee relations issues.
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting the implementation of organisational change.
Desirable criteria
  • Formal training in Job Evaluation
