An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled registered nurse to undertake the role of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse, working in both acute and community settings. This multi-diverse role allows the successful candidate to use their clinical knowledge and develop expert skills and knowledge related to the prevention and control of infection and the underpinning of Microbiology, whilst working in partnership with the clinical teams to make a real difference in patient outcomes, promoting patient safety and the delivery of safe care to assist in the reduction of health care associated infections.
The candidate will have knowledge of current issues relating to IPC and excellent communication and interpersonal skill. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of audit and quality improvement. They will be able to prioritise their own workload, working independently and as a team.
Having a strong attitude in training and developing people, in joining our dynamic and supportive team, this post offers development opportunities to support and enable a competency-based band 7 trajectory (Specialist Practitioner) - a starting point band 7 post based on previous experience and achievement may be considered.
The post holder will support the IPC lead in achieving year on year compliance with the IPC objectives as mentioned. To be visible and proactive as a role model in providing clinically effective standards of infection prevention and control, ensuring they are evidence based and reflect best practice. To manage a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities, whilst always ensuring that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. As clinical expert, provide specialist advice to support and facilitate high quality individualised care to patients in collaboration with the multi-professional team in line with the local and national targets. Be innovative utilising all aspects of the role, (e.g., learning from incidents, observational opportunities, feedback) to aid and nurture a culture of zero tolerance for HCAIs. Management of infection incidents and outbreaks, recognising any potential infection risks and carrying out post infection reviews and serious incident reports as required.
