Location: Hillingdon
Contract Type: Agency Worker (Inside IR35)
Hours: 36 per week | Monday–Friday | 09:00–17:00
Pay Rate: £22.98 PAYE | £30.00 Umbrella/Ltd

Role Overview
The London Borough of Hillingdon is seeking an experienced and resilient Housing Advice & Homeless Prevention Officer to join their Homes & Communities team. This is a fast-paced, frontline role supporting vulnerable residents through homelessness prevention and statutory housing assessments.

️ Key Responsibilities
As part of the Housing Options Duty Service, you will:

Conduct homelessness assessments and prevention/relief work

Manage a varied caseload with efficiency and empathy

Carry out enquiries and draft s184 decision letters

Apply knowledge of relevant legislation including Part VII Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act

Deliver high-quality service under pressure, balancing multiple demands

What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running, with:

Proven experience in a Housing Options service

Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal

Strong organisational ability to meet deadlines and manage caseloads

Empathy, discretion, and reliability in sensitive situations

A customer-focused mindset and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Flexibility and self-motivation in a dynamic environment

Working Arrangements
Flexible working offered

Office-based induction (2–4 weeks depending on competency)

Hybrid model: 50% office-based post-induction
