The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Jones Bros, Ruthin, suited to a professional, proactive, and motivated
individual. We are looking for someone forward-thinking, with the ability to support a fast-paced and friendly team in the civil
engineering and construction sector.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Senior Accountant will play a key role supporting the business including month-end and
year-end processes, analysing and presenting financial data to the business.
You will be responsible for reviewing and preparing monthly management accounts, managing the month-end close, and providing
detailed financial analysis to support key business functions.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Manage and supervise the production of monthly Management Accounts within prescribed timetables, including preparation of Board
packs and KPI metrics.
* Ensure all tasks within the month-end cycle are delivered and obtain sign-off from relevant stakeholders.
* Collaborate with the finance team, commercial team and wider business, providing guidance and support to departments and sites.
* Manage Accounts Payable, Subcontractors and Accounts Receivable teams.
* Review variance and overhead analysis, with commentary to inform decision-making.
* Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and follow up on outstanding issues.
* Review quarterly VAT Returns, CIS returns and review corporation tax computations.
* Review supplier and subcontractor payments; prepare ad hoc payments as required.
* Monitor credit insurance for new and existing customers.
* Assist in preparing the annual audit file and supporting auditor requests.
* Help implement new finance policies, controls and financial processes.
* Review and finalise annual statutory accounts.
* Submission of Annual Confirmation Statements and any updates required.
* Provide support on company insurance matters.
* Undertake ad hoc project work as requested by the Finance Director.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
* Fully qualified ACA or CIMA.
* Strong data analysis skills with the ability to present findings to varied audiences.
* Confident communicator with ability to challenge and influence senior managers.
* Highly numerate and analytical, with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
* Disciplined, organised, and able to meet tight deadlines.
* Advanced MS Excel skills.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of construction industry finance (CIS, VAT reverse charge (DRC), ERP systems such as COINS).
* Experience supporting on company insurance matters.
* Previous experience in the construction or civil engineering industry.
