Job details
Are you passionate about supporting sustainable growth and delivering excellent public service?

Join Huntingdonshire District Council as a Planning Technical Officer, where you'll play a vital role in the registration, validation and technical assessment of planning applications and appeals.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of our communities while working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

About the role
As a Planning Technical Officer, you'll play a fundamental role in the planning department, validating planning applications and appeals to meet statutory and local standards, including biodiversity net gain criteria.

While liaising with applicants and agents, you will provide clear communication regarding submission requirements to guide them through the application process.

You'll provide essential technical and administrative support to planning teams, champion excellent customer service by resolving public queries, and ensure GDPR-compliant publication of planning documents.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to make a positive impact in our community.

About you
We’re seeking a proactive problem-solver, accountable and detail-oriented individual with a strong administrative background and a genuine interest in local planning. You’ll need to demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills, and be able to engage confidently with applicants, agents, officers and the public.

A keen understanding and interest in planning validation and procedures is important, and experience using planning software, GIS tools, and document management systems is highly desirable. You should be highly organised and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for someone who is collaborative, discreet, and ethical, able to handle sensitive information responsibly.

If you’re passionate about public service, interested in personal development in a planning environment and ready to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.

An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. Huntingdonshire District Council does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
