Your new company
An established international bank is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Team Lead Credit Risk Analyst to join its Credit Department. This is a Second Line of Defence role, supporting the bank's credit risk oversight across corporate and retail portfolios, financial institutions, and structured transactions.

Your new role
Credit Risk Analyst - Leveraged & Acquisition Finance (2nd Line of Defence)
This role involves evaluating complex credit proposals related to leveraged buyouts, corporate acquisitions, and sponsor-backed transactions. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed financial analysis, building and stress-testing cash flow models, assessing capital structures, and identifying key transaction risks and mitigants. You will work closely with origination teams, risk management, and external stakeholders to ensure credit decisions align with internal risk appetite and regulatory standards. A strong understanding of debt markets, private equity dynamics, and sector-specific trends is essential, along with the ability to communicate credit views clearly and concisely to senior committees.

  • Prepare independent credit risk assessments and recommendations for new and existing business proposals.
  • Review internal risk ratings and classifications submitted by the First Line of Defence.
  • Conduct post-lending monitoring, including entity-specific, industry, and macroeconomic indicators.
  • Contribute to the development and review of internal risk appetite and tolerance frameworks.
  • Ensure alignment of business origination with credit risk acceptance criteria across geographies, client segments, and products.
  • Support portfolio management activities including policy updates, ECL modelling, and stress testing.
  • Lead or contribute to risk assessments, counterparty risk analysis, and data/model management initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong experience in credit risk analysis within banking or financial services. In particular, experience evaluating complex credit proposals related to leveraged buyouts, corporate acquisitions, and sponsor-backed transactions.
  • Solid understanding of financial institutions, corporate lending, and structured finance.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and credit risk systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex credit issues clearly.
  • Fluency in English required.

MUST BE BASED IN THE UK AND ROLE DOESN'T OFFER SPONSORSHIP.
