Your new company
We are currently recruiting for a Team Manager to join a dynamic and forward-thinking local authority committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and families. The Assessment Team plays a crucial role in responding to referrals, undertaking assessments, and ensuring timely and effective interventions.
Your new role
As a Team Manager, you will lead a busy and fast-paced Assessment Team, providing strong leadership and oversight to ensure high-quality practice and decision-making. You will be responsible for managing performance, supporting staff development, and ensuring that statutory responsibilities are met.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing a team of social workers and practitioners
  • Overseeing the allocation and progression of referrals and assessments
  • Ensuring timely and robust decision-making in safeguarding and child protection cases
  • Supporting staff through supervision, coaching, and reflective practice
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver effective interventions
  • Contributing to service development and continuous improvement

What you'll need to succeed

  • A recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  • Extensive experience in children's social care, particularly in assessment and safeguarding
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, thresholds, and statutory guidance
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills
  • A commitment to high standards of practice and improving outcomes for children
